Revision Questions - Any Luna-tics out there?

Today, Moon questions:

1) In an operational, ongoing colony, what professions/careers outside of scientists would be required?
2) Where can one find the math to figure the effect of the lower gravity on things, such as movement?
3) Is there a resource map of the moon anywhere?

Thanks, and sorry, no prizes, just good will for any answers!

Well, for things math and space-related, I usually start at Atomic Rockets of the Space Age. Be warned - SF geeks can loose whole days dinking around on that site.

Regarding professions on the Moon - well, somebody's got to keep the lights on and the air breathable, so there would be a whole department of maintenance types. The Moon is desperately short of water, so water recycling (and the people to keep the recycling going) are needed.

What are your people eating? Shipping costs suggest that you'll want to grow as much locally as possible. I did several posts on space colonization which you might find helpful.

Thanks, Chris - this helps!

This story doesn't go to food time, but the base/colony is a multi-leveled underground place with three arrival pads and mining development. I'm sure part of those levels are for hydroponics and water maintenance from the mined ice rock.
